My Story

Hi, I’m Tahlia McGuinness — the creator and artist behind Tart-istry.

​

I’m a proud Wiradjuri woman, a qualified Visual Arts teacher, and a lifelong maker with a deep love for creativity, colour and community. Art has always been my safe place, my language, and my way of connecting with others — and Tart-istry is where all of that comes to life.

​

After teaching Visual Arts, Photography, Ceramics and Creative Arts across NSW schools, I realised how much joy there is in bringing hands-on creativity directly to families, children and adults. I’ve worked with students from diverse backgrounds, supported learning needs, run wellbeing programs, and taught in settings that have shaped me into a patient, kind and engaging facilitator.

Tart-istry grew from my desire to share that same joy outside the classroom — to create magical, memorable experiences that spark imagination and bring people together.

🎨 My Creative Philosophy

I believe everyone is creative — sometimes they just need the right environment, encouragement and materials. Whether it’s face painting, a craft workshop, scrapbooking or a paint-and-sip night, my goal is always the same:
to make people feel safe, inspired and excited to create.

Watching children’s faces light up when they see their painted designs, or hearing adults laugh their way through a painting session — these are the moments that fill my heart and remind me why I started Tart-istry.

When I’m not painting faces or running workshops, you’ll find me creating art, working on new lesson ideas, studying, or spending time with my husband and our tribe of pets. I’m always dreaming up new activities, new characters, and new ways to bring creativity into the community.
